🇺🇸 In the United States, the Government Services Administration plans to review an estimated 30 government contracts with Harvard University, with an aim to cancel or redirect around $100M away from the school.
The contract review is part of a broader federal push tied to accusations that Harvard mishandled incidents of antisemitism on campus and practiced racially biased admissions policies.
This comes after the Trump administration froze over $3.2 billion in existing grants and contracts to Harvard in April, pending internal investigations.
The GSA has instructed multiple agencies to audit all ongoing and pending contracts, targeting nearly $100 million in active agreements for potential cancellation or redirection.

Additional punitive measures are being considered include revoking Harvard’s nonprofit tax-exempt status and increasing the federal excise tax on its $50B endowment.
Harvard has filed a federal lawsuit challenging these actions, calling them politically motivated and a violation of constitutional protections. (Specifically the first amendment.)

The escape on May 16th involved inmates using a hole behind a cell toilet to gain access to a restricted area, eventually scaling a wall to freedom.
