🇺🇸 Lake Tahoe Boat Capsizes

• A boat capsized on Lake Tahoe, California, during a sudden storm.

• 7 people died, and 1 person is still missing as of this morning.

• The boat was carrying a group of 12 passengers when it flipped.

🇧🇷 Brazil Balloon Disaster

• A hot air balloon carrying 21 people caught fire mid-air in Brazil.

• 8 people died, and 13 were injured (some with severe burns).

• The fire broke out during landing procedures in Minas Gerais.

• Most of the passengers and the pilot were able to get out while the balloon was low to the ground, but it rose back into the air again, trapping 8 people. Some of whom jumped from an unsurvivable height before the whole thing burst into flames and fell to the ground.

🇸🇾 Syria Church Attack

• On Sunday, June 22, a suicide bomber entered the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in the Dweila suburb of Damascus during divine liturgy.

• The attacker opened fire on worshippers before detonating an explosive vest, in what the Syrian Interior Ministry said was carried out by a member of ISIS, though the Islamic State has not officially claimed responsibility.

• At least 25 people were killed and 63 others were injured including children. This is the first suicide bombing at a church in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.

• The attacks took place at the annual Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, which occurred on Saturday, June 21, 2025, across multiple French cities.
